The Kildare EU Club was established in November 2006 with the great support from the Kildare Community Partnership based in Naas. The members from new communities came together and started to share information about the different issues on an informal level. There were many different issues that immigrants had to deal with on daily basis, but there was no “place where to go”, no “phone to ring”, no “person who knew”. We also noticed the gaps in the communication amongst the members of communities, but also amongst statutory agencies or other organizations. The need for efficient communication, the need to speak up about immigrants issues, the lack information about different cultures, the need to present cultural values of different nationalities, or just language difficulties were initial drives to start acting as a potential, energetic and resourceful group.….that was how it started. The mission of the Kildare EU Club... ... is to provide the space for members from new communities in county Kildare, to enhance their potential, to create community spirit and to enhance communications for better integration. Aims of the Kildare EU Club... ... to provide relevant information provision, - to provide support with language difficulties, - to organise cultural and sports events, - to provide the space for personal development,- to be proactive in the integration process. |
